Who we are and what we do

ENGRexpert is an engineering research and technical consultancy that supports researchers, universities, research institutes and engineering companies with modelling, simulation, data analysis, optimisation, technical consulting, manuscript writing and publication support. This website describes the service areas, the way we work and the principles that guide us. It deliberately does not display individual qualifications, client names, testimonials, project statistics or certifications, because none can be shown here without verification. If you need to know who would work on your project, ask before engaging; we will answer directly and in writing.

Our approach to research support

We treat research support as a technical collaboration with clear boundaries. The client's research question, data and conclusions remain theirs. Our role is to bring method, structure and critical review: to check that a model is verified and validated, that an experiment is designed to answer the question, that a statistical analysis is appropriate and that a manuscript presents the evidence clearly. We prefer to say what the evidence cannot show rather than to oversell.

This approach shapes everything on the site: service pages describe scope, methods, deliverables and limitations; discipline pages describe what good research looks like; articles explain methods in plain language; and policy pages state what we will not do.

The breadth of the catalogue and why it is organised this way

The service catalogue covers fifteen engineering divisions and five manuscript categories, with 146 service entries in total. The divisions include structural and civil engineering, mechanical and thermal systems, fluid dynamics and computational fluid dynamics, materials and manufacturing, electrical and electronic systems, energy systems, aerospace and automotive engineering, biomedical, chemical and environmental engineering, artificial intelligence and data science, optimisation and operations research, and sustainability and life-cycle assessment.

The manuscript categories cover original research, case studies, review articles including systematic and other review types, specialised formats and support aimed at selective journals. The breadth reflects the range of questions researchers bring. The depth of each page is educational, describing scope and method, and any engagement is scoped individually.

How we work

Each project is scoped individually. We assess requirements, identify the expertise needed, agree deliverables in writing and apply technical review before delivery.

  3. 03Execution against the agreed scope

How we work with clients

Engagements begin with scoping: the question, the data, the target output, the deadline and the constraints. We then propose a plan with deliverables and checkpoints. Work proceeds in iterations with the client reviewing and deciding. At the end, deliverables are documented so that the client can reproduce and defend them: scripts, input files, assumptions and a methods description.

The project workflow page describes the stages in more detail and explains what we need from clients at each stage.

Quality assurance and verification

Quality assurance means checking our own work. For models, that includes verification and validation steps; for data analysis, it includes reproducible scripts, sanity checks and sensitivity analysis; for writing, it includes consistency checks between text, tables and figures, and verification that cited sources exist and say what is claimed. For significant deliverables, a second pair of eyes reviews the work before it is released.

No method eliminates error, so we describe limitations and encourage clients to review everything.

How we decide what to include in our services

A service enters the catalogue when it corresponds to a recognised research method or publication need, when it can be described honestly in terms of scope and deliverables, and when we can state its limitations. We avoid listing services that depend on physical laboratories or regulatory authority we do not have, or which would require us to certify or approve anything. This is why the catalogue emphasises modelling, analysis, planning and writing.

Each service page includes a scope, methodology, applications, deliverables, workflow, frequently asked questions and a call to action. The pages are written to be useful as references even to readers who do not contact us.

If you need something that is not listed, ask; we will tell you whether it fits.

Principles and integrity

Transparent methodology

Methods, assumptions and limitations are documented so work can be checked and repeated.

Research integrity

No fabrication, falsification or plagiarism. Work is based on genuine data and sources.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality terms can be agreed in writing; share the minimum needed and avoid sensitive uploads through the public form.

Reproducibility where applicable

Parameters, versions and data handling are recorded so results can be reproduced.

Clear project scope

Deliverables, assumptions and acceptance criteria are agreed before work starts.

Technical review

Results and numbers are checked for consistency before delivery.

Appropriate authorship

Authorship and contribution decisions stay with you and your institution, following journal and institutional policy.

Responsible AI use

AI tools may assist drafting or analysis, but outputs are verified against sources, and AI use is disclosed where policy requires.

No fabricated data or references

Every citation must be a real, verifiable source; gaps are flagged, never filled with invented material.

No guaranteed journal acceptance

Editors and reviewers decide. We support quality and fit, not outcomes.

Read more on the research integrity page and the Research Integrity Policy.

Principles of scientific integrity

We do not fabricate data, results, references, qualifications, testimonials or client lists. We do not guarantee acceptance by any journal or any particular metric. We do not write manuscripts for clients to submit as their own sole work where this would misrepresent authorship. We encourage proper acknowledgement of contributions and compliance with journal policies. We decline requests that conflict with these principles.

The research integrity pages give more detail, including how we handle conflicts of interest, confidentiality and the use of generative tools.

Confidentiality and data protection

Unpublished data and manuscripts are treated as confidential. We recommend sharing the minimum necessary, avoiding personal or sensitive data, and agreeing in writing how files will be transferred, stored and deleted. The privacy policy page describes how contact information is processed.

Do not send confidential material through the contact form. Use the form to describe the project in general terms and agree on secure transfer afterwards.

Boundaries and transparency

What we do not do

  • We do not fabricate data, results, citations or author contributions.
  • We do not guarantee that a journal will accept a manuscript.
  • We do not provide certification, regulatory sign-off or licensed professional design.
  • We do not publish unverifiable claims about clients, awards, team size or accreditation.

What this website does not claim

This website does not claim awards, accreditations, rankings, client counts, publication counts or guaranteed outcomes. If any such information is added in future, it will be factual, dated and verifiable. The content is educational and is flagged for expert review; readers should verify technical details against standards and primary sources.

If you notice an error, please tell us through the contact page; we will correct it.

Reach, access and this website

International reach and communication

We work with clients across time zones and communicate in English. Units follow SI conventions unless the client's field uses others. We are mindful of different journal systems, institutional requirements and funding rules, and we encourage clients to confirm local compliance requirements.

Scheduling and turnaround are agreed at scoping, with allowance for time differences.

Language, accessibility and inclusion

This website is designed to be readable with assistive technology, usable on small screens and navigable by keyboard. Text is written in clear English, with technical terms defined where they first matter. We welcome researchers from all regions and career stages and aim to communicate without condescension. If something on the site is hard to use, tell us and we will improve it.

Standards, references and tools we draw on

Our descriptions of method draw on widely used practice: verification and validation principles for computational models, guidelines for the expression of measurement uncertainty, established statistical methods and reporting guidelines for different study types. We cite such sources in service pages where relevant, and we encourage readers to consult them directly. No endorsement by any standards body or publisher is implied.

Software and tools mentioned on this site are examples of common categories and do not imply partnership or sponsorship.

Roadmap for improving this website

We intend to expand articles, add diagrams and worked examples, and publish case descriptions only when they can be verified and permitted. Any change that adds claims will be factual and documented. If you would like to see a topic covered, tell us through the contact page.
